About Nnub

Nnub is a touch-enabled, networked, and digital noticeboard. Nnub is divided into localities or local groups of users and accessible through both a noticeboard interface (in a public space within the locality) and Web interface at www.nnub.net. Example contexts include a neighbourhood, library, and university campus.

Nnub aims to help build better, searchable, and indexable information for local communities. All Nnub content is generated by Nnub users and by aggregating content relevant to the locality from other sources. Our philosophy is that anyone can post.

The Australian Oxford Dictionary defines nub as a point or gist (of matter or story). The noticeboard is a locality nub where the point or gist of the locality is captured in text and images uploaded by the Nnub users. Nnub stands for Neighbourhood nub.

Nnub is a research project in supporting local community led by Professor Margot Brereton at the Queensland University of Technology.
