D3 - Brisbane's biggest charity dance spectacular! - 02.06.12, 5:30pm

Brisbane families will be flocking to the main stage for D3, Australia’s newest youth dance spectacular.
D3 is a brand new Queensland dance competition that will knock your socks off! Gone are the day of boring eisteddfods and over the top Christmas specials, this year Chilarity is introducing a new league of dancing that will pave the way for national revolution in the dance world. D3 will showcase 30 of the best dance group performances from across Queensland, who will be competing across a range of genres. The competition will be intense, the performances astounding, and the night is sure to be a spectacle like no other. But most importantly, all the money raised by D3 will go charity.
D3 is being run by Brisbane based kids charity Chilarity where the money is raised by kids for kids. Chilarity provides a fun way for kids to get involved in their communities by raising money for charities and causes that they feel strongly about. D3 is the first state-wide event that Chilarity has run, and we plan to take the event across the nation in 2013.
The evening will not only deliver intense competition and astounding performances, but will provide a new level of audience participation and entertainment for the whole family. The will be an internationally acclaimed Australian comedian as the MC on the night, providing amusement and delight that is sure to keep you on the edge of your seat.

Bellbowrie Neighbourhood Watch has a newsletter - 07.05.12, 7:30pm

BELLBOWRIE NEIGHBOURHOOD WATCH
About
Bellbowrie neighbours, working together to make our community safer.DescriptionNeighbourhood Watch is a 'Community Policing' program, supported by the Queensland Police Service. We operate as a group homes, divided into several zones, each under the support of a 'Zone Co-ordinator'. Each zone supports approx. 10 blocks, each comprising about 10 homes. Each block is supported by a 'Block Co-ordinator'. Residents are educated and encouraged to be alert for any suspicious or criminal activity in the area, and to report information to the block or zone co-ordinator, or to the police. Full details of the purpose and structure of Neighbourhood Watch, can be found at the Queensland Police Service, Community Policing page. Our group is operated by a group of dedicated volunteers, supported by our Police Liaison Officer. To check if your home lies within our area of concern, please check our map.Our Bellbowrie Police Beat officer, Senior Constable Leesa Richardson keeps us informed about any criminal activity or intelligence (concerning our area), which allows residents to be informed and take appropriate precautions to prevent themselves becoming victims of crime. Leesa can be contacted at the Police Beat on Ph: 3202 7355.The success of our group has been largely due to the large number of residents being actively involved over the years. If any one would like to become more actively involved in Neighbourhood Watch, they would be made very welcome.Ray RiceArea Co-ordinator

Are you interested to carpool or share the occasional ride?

Need a ride ino the city?
Need some bread and milk picked up by a friend on the way home?
Want to save money, avoid parking fines, reduce congestion, get to know your neighbours?
Earn coffee credits for helping your neighbours?
As part of our research into local community sharing, we have designed a web-based mobile application for your smart phone (www.agileride.net) to share your vehicle rides with friends, neighbours or everyone in Moggill, Bellbowire or surrounds.
NOTE: You only share your travel information with the research team and with people that you choose to share it with.
We are looking for people to try out this ridesharing application and to give us some feedback. To thank you for your participation you will receive a $20 voucher after a a 14 day period of use. You will also receive a report about the study - all information anonymised according to QUT ethical research protocols.
If you're interested in participating please read the information below:
Are you looking for people like me?
The research team is looking for males and females over 18 years old who
1. have a smartphone,
2. who travel daily or several times a week within a suburb, between suburbs or into, around and accross Brisbane, and
3. who are interested in carpooling/ridesharing on an ad hoc or regular basis.
What will you ask me to do?
In stage 1, your participation, which is 100% voluntary, will involve using a web-based mobile application on your smart phone(www.agileride.net) to post your travel for a 14day period. You post when you want or could offer a ride. Your posts are only shared with the research team and with people that you choose to allow to see them. We will show you how to use the application in a face-to-face meeting.
Later, a video recorded interview or workshop based on your preference will be conducted at QUT or another agreed location that will take approximately 1 hour of your time. We will ask you about your exeprience of using the phone based application and for your feedback on the concept, and the app itself.
NOTE: You only share your travel information with the research team and with people that you choose to share it with.
We'd love feedback on this application from young and old, from people communting to the city, and from people who largely travel within the suburb or just to Kenmore, from people sharing pickups and dropoffs etc.
I can help! I'd like to try it. What should I do?

Hadi works with me at QUT. We research how to support local sharing. We got a Federal grant to look into how to support more local ridesharing! So please give his application a try. Thanks, Margot Brereton

Oops ... Moggill / Bellbowrie Community Weight Loss Challeng - 02.05.12, 7:30pm

Huge apologies for the confusion with the start of the current Moggill / Bellbowrie Community Weight Loss Challenge ... including Public / School hols etc ... we've decided to call it the WLC "Perfect Storm" of circumstances.
But ... right back ther is time to get on to ths challenge next Wednesday night May 2nd.
If you've already registered no problem, great.
If you were going to do so but didn't get to do it because of the incorrect date on the website / public hols etc go to the www.localchallenge.com.au website, click on the Moggill-Bellbowrie link and book yourself in or phone 0412 55 55 76.
We'll contact you, confirm your details, email you the information sheet and see you next Wednesday the 2nd at 7.30pm.
As many of you know, the team have been running the Challenges in the area for over 4 years now and we are really thrilled with the results ... the area is literally hundreds of kilos lighter.
We typically find that people lose 8-10% or more of their body weight OR MORE over the Challenge but more importantly it's about keeping it off and helping our "Challengers" establish a new direction and long-term lasting change in their weight, their health and their long-term wellness.
Regards Margaret, Paul and the Team
