Thanks to our Community Contributors
A Nnub reader has drawn our attention to Cllr Margaret DeWit's monthly newsletter in which there are some commendations this month for outstanding community service. Margaret writes:"This month I would like to acknowledge the tremendous work being done by the organisers of the Moggill Markets. John and Erica Parker and their committee put all the funds raised by the markets into charitable causes. Their work is totally voluntary. They have donated $10,000 to the Moggill School Chaplaincy program and last month I had the pleasure of presenting on their behalf a GPS system to the Moggill SES which was jointly funded by the Markets ($500) and the company HEMA who provided the equipment. (L-R:Moggill SES Group Leader Phil McKean, Cr de Wit, Moggill Markets organiser John Parker)In particular I would like to thank the Moggill Markets for the fundraising raffle they organised to help fund treatment for Aidan Needham, a 24 year old Kenmore resident who has a brain tumour and needs about $36,000 for treatment. After much hard work selling $2 tickets they raised more than $8,000 which will be a great help and a great morale boost for Aidan. Aidan‘s fiancé Aleisha was present for the drawing of the prizes, many of which were donated by the Market stall holders. If you can help in any way please contact the Ward Office. I would also like to acknowledge Sergeant Murray Watson who was recently awarded the Queensland Ambulance Volunteer of the Year award for his work in managing the Bellbowrie First Responder service." Nnub thanks John, Erica and all who contribute to the organisation of the Moggill Markets and Murray for the care and commitment they give to our community. Thank you.

MOGGILL QCWA Activities 2011
Moggill QCWA continues to thrive - nearly 100 members with ages from 25 to 85. The branch, which held its 8th birthday this month, is renowned for its friendliness and the activities on offer are wide and diverse. Ladies who join can sing in the choir, act with the drama group, sew, knit, play bridge or mahjong or engage in the many fundraising events throughout the year. There is a social evening for ladies who cannot come to the daytime activities where a light meal is served followed by a guest speaker. Most of these activities are featured on our blogsite.
The recent floods saw the Moggill ladies helping out at the Uniting Church evacuation centre – making sandwiches, cakes, teas/coffees and delivering food to the volunteers who were working in the area. The country families are not forgotten either and the QCWA State Office is arranging for new linen, cleaning packs, personal hygiene packs & baby supplies to be sent out to branches in rural Queensland for distribution. The State Office is also asking for cash donations – 100% of which will be distributed in the form of vouchers to families ravaged by flood or cyclone recently. These can be used to buy food or pay essential household bills. If you wish to donate, please visit the following website: www.qcwa.org.au
So if you are new to the area and would like to meet some new people with similar interests, please contact Margaret on 3202 9189 or smiths@bellbowrie.com - we would love to hear from you.
