I am very excited to see this plan. I wonder if it could be displayed with a comments register at the Bellbowrie Shopping centre and maybe through the school newsletter... as I don't think that a lot of local residents know about this plan. I am looking at things in the plan like wheelchair access, pram access and bike riding tracks for small children. What is rubbish capture and disposal going to be like, how will users be encouraged to dipose of rubbish into suitable receptacles and how often will these be emptied. How will the park be maintained and will community be involved? Will local people be employed to build it and manage it? Is there any possibility of school groups being involved in tree planting and youth groups being involved in building and horticulture works? A great opportunity for local Vocational Education and Training students. Is there public toilets for general public users, such as families who use the park for non organised sport related leisure and recreation. Is there places to take my children to fly a kite, go fishing, catch yabbies and watch birds. Is passive leisure included for parents who are with their children at a sport activity but not using the sport facility. Is there access and provision for my elderly friends with reduced mobility and maybe a dog on leads walking track? Is there somewhere I can attend a tai chi group early in the morning and a yoga in the park session for mums with bubs in the afternoon. Will my children be safe in getting out of and into the car while I load in and out their bikes, rollerblades, picnic gear and sports gear? Is it readily accessible by public transport? Is there somewhere my boys and their dad can fly their remote controlled areoplanes and attend club meets and maybe later on practice and fine tune their human powered vehicle. I love the idea that several team sports are catered for... and the plan looks really exciting. Kind regards, Karen

Where is this proposed to be created? I can see it's on Moggill Road, but where? What would this mean for the existing Bellbowrie Sports Club and its associated grounds? Would it be better to expand that existing facility somehow rather than creating something new?

Hi Tony, The proposed site is near to the intersection of Moggill Road and Hawkesbury Road. I think the idea is that there is not sufficient land at the existing facility to add the proposed oval, pitches and courts. However, I was not able to attend the meeting, so don't really know. Is anyone who was at the meeting able to elaborate? Best wishes, Margot

Wednesday June 23rd Community Meeting - Moggill District Sports Park

Community Meeting - Moggill District Sports Park23 June, 2010

Brisbane City Council is holding a public meeting on 23 June , 2010 regarding the Moggill District Sports Park.

As the Bellbowrie/Moggill community continues to grow, so has participation in district level sport which has resulted in Booker Place Park, Bellbowrie reaching capacity. To continue to cater for the sporting needs of this emerging community, Council has purchased land at 3650 & 3660 Moggill Road, Moggill for a District Sports Park.

The Moggill District Sports Park Master Plan is part of Brisbane City Councils vision to create an active and healthy city. This will be achieved by delivering a significant recreational space, with facilities and spaces in which to exercise and be active, for the benefit of surrounding residents and community groups. The Master Plan will be a guide to the parks future development, in order to balance the needs of the existing recreation activities and specific sporting use.

A community information session is planned for 7:00pm on Wednesday 23 June, 2010 at the Bellbowrie Community Church, 3077 Moggill Rd, Bellbowrie. On this evening, a Draft Concept Plan for the Moggill District Sport Park will be presented, for which Council will be requesting community feedback.

To attend the information evening, please RSVP to the Pullenvale Ward Office on 3407 0220.
