MOGGILL QCWA Activities 2011
Moggill QCWA continues to thrive - nearly 100 members with ages from 25 to 85. The branch, which held its 8th birthday this month, is renowned for its friendliness and the activities on offer are wide and diverse. Ladies who join can sing in the choir, act with the drama group, sew, knit, play bridge or mahjong or engage in the many fundraising events throughout the year. There is a social evening for ladies who cannot come to the daytime activities where a light meal is served followed by a guest speaker. Most of these activities are featured on our blogsite.
The recent floods saw the Moggill ladies helping out at the Uniting Church evacuation centre – making sandwiches, cakes, teas/coffees and delivering food to the volunteers who were working in the area. The country families are not forgotten either and the QCWA State Office is arranging for new linen, cleaning packs, personal hygiene packs & baby supplies to be sent out to branches in rural Queensland for distribution. The State Office is also asking for cash donations – 100% of which will be distributed in the form of vouchers to families ravaged by flood or cyclone recently. These can be used to buy food or pay essential household bills. If you wish to donate, please visit the following website: www.qcwa.org.au
So if you are new to the area and would like to meet some new people with similar interests, please contact Margaret on 3202 9189 or smiths@bellbowrie.com - we would love to hear from you.

Moggill School Fete
Moggill State School is in full swing getting ready for our Fete on Sunday 26th April 2009 from 10:00am until 4:00pm. This year we are celebrating Queensland’s 150th birthday with Queensland themed stalls and local history displays. We have a great array of homemade goods such as cakes, biscuits, slices, sweets, jams pickles. Our second hand book and toy stall has something for everyone.
After browsing the stalls and the Moggill local history display, it will be time to sit back and enjoy some food from the BBQ or the German Sausages, Asian or Kids Cuisine stalls. Maybe Nachos, Hot Chips, or just a Coffee with Cake are more to your liking. There’s plenty to suit all tastes. While the kids play, parents will also be able to relax with a cold drink.
We have ten fantastic rides to entertain the children. Scale the heights of the Rock Wall, weather the wild ride on the Storm, climb inside for the ride of your life on the Simulator, drop from 10 metres on the Bat Tower, test your skill in the Alien Laser Game, pick up speed on the Super Slide, as well as 2 jumping castles, a merry go round and pony rides. Rides will operate from 10:30am until 3:30pm with day ride passes (armbands) available on the day for $30 per person, or pre-purchased for $25 per person by contacting the school before 23rd April. Tickets for single rides are also available.
The school choirs will be performing on stage, along with entertainment from local community dance, gym and martial arts groups. Fire & Rescue, Mounted Police, SES, First Responders Group, Scouts, Girl Guides, CWA, will also have displays.
We are also auctioning over $6000 worth of items, such as a $1200 Business consulting packages, a $500 yard maintenance package, local gym memberships, day trips to Tangalooma and Stradbroke Islands, jewellery vouchers, restaurant vouchers, beauty packages plus much more.
Any businesses or community groups who are interested in having a stall at the fete can contact us on the details below. We are looking for historical memorabilia to display at our fete. Please contact Sue on 3202 8438 or email moggillfete2009@gmail.com
So come along and enjoy a fun day at Moggill State School.
