MOGGILL QCWA Activities 2011

Moggill QCWA continues to thrive - nearly 100 members with ages from 25 to 85.  The branch, which held its 8th birthday this month, is renowned for its friendliness and the activities on offer are wide and diverse.  Ladies who join can sing in the choir, act with the drama group, sew, knit, play bridge or mahjong or engage in the many fundraising events throughout the year.  There is a social evening for ladies who cannot come to the daytime activities where a light meal is served followed by a guest speaker.  Most of these activities are featured on our blogsite.

The recent floods saw the Moggill ladies helping out at the Uniting Church evacuation centre – making sandwiches, cakes, teas/coffees and delivering food to the volunteers who were working in the area.  The country families are not forgotten either and the QCWA State Office is arranging for new linen, cleaning packs, personal hygiene packs & baby supplies to be sent out to branches in rural Queensland for distribution.  The State Office is also asking for cash donations – 100% of which will be distributed in the form of vouchers to families ravaged by flood or cyclone recently.  These can be used to buy food or pay essential household bills.  If you wish to donate, please visit the following website: www.qcwa.org.au

So if you are new to the area and would like to meet some new people with similar interests, please contact Margaret on 3202 9189 or smiths@bellbowrie.com   - we would love to hear from you.

MOGGILL MARKETS Update 2011

Moggill Markets are back up and running in the car park at the Moggill School on the 1st & 3rd Saturdays of each month from 6.30am – 11.00am.  After an eventful start to 2011, it was wonderful to see stallholders & customers once again reunited.  A couple of regular stallholders from the Sunshine Coast were missing because their produce had been washed away, but fortunately, all those from the Lockyer Valley, Stanthorpe and northern NSW arrived with trailers laden – it was a great sight to see the market buzzing.

Since its inception 2 years ago, Moggill Markets have gone from strength to strength - the markets have become an invaluable asset to the community.  The markets are run entirely by volunteers and all proceeds are donated to good causes. In the past 2 years, these are just some of the donations which have been made:

  • Computers to Moggill State School
  • Monthly donations to support the Chaplaincy at Moggill State School
  • Monthly donations of food to the 139 Homeless Club, Fortitude Valley
  • GPS system to Moggill SES
  • 20 Christmas food hampers to Blue Care
  • Boxes of fresh produce to DV (Domestic Violence) Connect
  • Donations to QCWA Moggill
  • Donations to Moggill Guides
  • Donations to Aiden Needham Appeal

Further information is available on http://www.moggillmarkets.org.au

Mt Crosby Country Market - DECEMBER 5th

Well Hello Everyone,

Have you done all your Christmas Shopping yet?  Why not pop down to our final market for the year at the Mount Crosby Country Market on Sunday 5th December.

We have yet another great line up of stalls and entertainment this month. It would be fabulous to see everyone there enjoying themselves and getting their entire Christmas gift shopping out of the way.

Whilst you are browsing the market, you can listen to Alvin and the Jabutu Band.  These guys are world class muzos that not only play music but entertain as well.  Nadia Sunde will also be dropping in, providing us with a performance full of energy for not only children but parents alike.

I have attached a copy of the December flyer and also a copy of our December Newsletter.  Please feel free to place this on your notice boards at work or school and share with your family and friends.

I am looking forward to seeing you all there and if anyone has any questions at all, please do not hesitate to give me a call.
