No U-turn at Bellbowrie traffic lights!

Now that we have traffic lights at the main intersection in Bellbowrie, it is no longer possible to make a legal U-turn at that intersection. There is no sign at the intersection.

An often forgotten road rule -- it's illegal to do a U-turn on an intersection controlled by traffic lights unless there is a U-turn sign which permits you to do so.

I hear the police have been ticketing drivers.

Thank you for that post! I am guilty of doing it myself and had no idea it was illegal. It just seemed so much safer than doing a U-turn further up the road where it is difficult to see (often speeding) traffic coming over the hill. I suppose we could turn into Birkin Road and turn around in there - but I would think that would cause absolute havoc for traffic coming in and out of the shopping centre entrances. It is very necessary to be able to do a U-turn in order for those living on the Moggill side of Bellbowrie to access the service station, childcare centre, bus stop etc, so I do hope Main Roads will see the sense in adding a U-turn permitted sign to the main intersection before someone gets killed trying to do a U-turn further up the road!
