Moggill Country Club proposed redevelopment

A new application for preliminary approval for the residential development of the Moggill Country Club on Weekes Road, Moggill has been received. This  property is now in the hands of receivers Ernst & Young who have lodged the application. The main changes in the latest plan are:

Reduction in the development footprint Increase in the number of lots to 93 Reduction in the lots interfacing the parkland and River The proposal has to be publicly advertised and a sign will be erected on the site giving details of where and when to lodge submissions. Please note that all previous applications are null and void and any submissions residents may have lodged will be invalid as this is a different plan. The documents are available for viewing in Margaret deWit's office or  alternatively follow the link below for more information.

The property is located at 120 and 126 Weekes Road, and possibly at other Weeks road numbers.

I have only lived in the area for four years, but don't understand why there is not a country club/golf course in the area. To me there are enough people to support and enjoy one. Was a survey done showing lack of support for it, or did it go out of business when Karana Downs GOlf Club opened? Anyone know the history?

I agree Darren. I don't understand the logic of expanding suburban residential development and removing suburban facilities. It is a crying shame that the golf clubs are being removed, creating less local community interaction and more people driving inbound. I can only imagine it is due to planning pressures, poor planning (in my opinion) and the price of riverfront land.
