Moggill / Bellbowrie Levy Bank

I know it may have been discussed already, but I wonder the feasibility of a levy bank to block the water that comes up and in from the river in the low lying areas. Surely a levy will then protect Bellbowrie shops and properties surrounding it from some of the devastation??

Are there any engineers who subscribe to this blog, what do you think?

PM Gillard is interested in a levy ;) Building levees creates new issues than simple government acqusition of properties on potential flood land or raisng building heights. For example: - How is rainwater connected to the river? - Build levees to what height? - Based on what historical data? - How many levees? - What if a levee fails? If one property is protected with a levee, all properties should be.

Surely we have some engineers that visit this page or someone who knows one who can give us an answer on where or what's involved...
